My good friend Byron Borger (co-owner with his wife of Hearts and Minds Bookstore) was the weekend speaker at a conference - Vision and Hope for Contemporary Culture in Hershey, PA. Becky and I went to hear him on Friday evening. His topic was John Calvin Meets Donald Trump! It was a wonderful challenge for Christians to think well and engage authentically with our culture at all levels.
I wish you could meet Byron, hang out with him and be impacted by his infectious love of learning, his energetic pursuit of wisdom and his passion to live a fully integrated life as a follower of Jesus. I also wish you could spend some leisurely time browsing through the endless books at Hearts and Minds. I know most of you can't, but the next best thing I'd recommend is that you check out his website and blog on a regular basis. If you are in need of staying connected with really good books and engaging in good conversations on the important issues of life - this is one way you can do it.
Just visit the home page of Hearts and Minds and Byron's blog is just a click away once you are there. His website is listed in the left column of this site.
They also had a great book display set up at the conference. I bought a book on understanding Ecclesiastes through the lens of current films, a book on theological themes in the Lord of the Rings, a new leadership book by Senge and a book on developing the life of the mind. Maybe it is a good thing you don't live near Hearts and Minds. You might go broke!
