Brian McLaren's new book, Finding Our Way Again is the launching volume in a new series of books by Thomas Nelson - The Ancient Practices Series.
He begins chapter two with a great illustration. Here are his words:
You can't take an epidural shot to ease the pain of giving birth to character. In a sense, every day of your life is labor: the rhythmic agony of producing the person who will wake up in your body tomorrow, creating your reputation, continuing your legacy, and influencing your famiily, friends, colleagues, neighbors and countless strangers, for better or worse.
Perhaps this is why the character formation process is so often aborted. There is great pain in giving birth to something beautiful in one's character.
What is the front burner character issue that Christ is working on in your life? How are you doing with the birthing process?
