Here are some stats from unChristian.
If you add up all the evangelism done via radio, TV, and passing out tracts . . . together that accounts for less than 1/2 of 1% of conversions among Buster age adults. In other words - those mediums DON'T WORK!
For every 100 people who are not "born-again" by the age of 18, only 6 of them will commit to Christ for the first time as an adult! By the way, this projection assumes that we continue to do evangelism in the ineffective way we are currently doing it.
Only 25% of those in the 16-29 age range are looking for a faith that helps them connect with God! And yet that is exactly the faith we offer and our approaches offer this heavily. Basically, we are offering them something they aren't looking for or are highly skeptical and wary of (especially coming from Christians who they do not respect).
Now, here is one that is a little bigger than the evangelism issue.
Only 3% of Busters and Mosaics who say they have made a commitment to Christ, affirm the basic tenets of the evangelical worldview. That means of the 95 million Buster/Mosaic adults ages 18-41, about 60 million say they have made a commitment to Christ that is still important to them, but only 3 million of them have anything close to resembling an evangelical worldview!
More on this last one tomorrow and about the superficial Chrisitanity to which we convert people.
