One is not neutral toward John Piper. He is Reformed pastor/theologian and author of many excellent books. You love him . . . or not.
The God-centered life is what Piper is all about. His is a breath of high heavenly air that almost has an exotic, unfamiliar fragrance in our relentlessy, human-centered, me-focused world.
To give you an illustration of this, Piper's words on cancer are very helpful. While this is a reflection from Dr. John Piper on his own bout with cancer, it applies to all instances of our suffering. This is a very high, Christ-centered, the Glory of God theology and spirituality.
Go here to read Piper's words, along with some additional commentary by David Powlinson.
Or if you want a copy of that messge, I have copied and formatted it for easier reading on this document. It is worth printing out, reading, studying, reflecting and praying over.
