Two days before his death (1274), one of the greatest theologians of all time, Thomas Aquinas prayed this prayer to Christ (whom he called Price of my soul's consolation):
"All my studies, my vigils and my labors have been for the love of Thee."
And like Aquinas, we labor and serve, we study and learn, we are vigilant in our calling to bless the world in the name of Christ. To do that, we need a sustaining motivation. And so, like Aquinas, everything we do must flow out of the motivation he had.
ALL FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
All for the glory of His Name.
All for the service of His Purposes.
All for the love of the people He died for.
ALL FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
This is the sustaining motivation that will carry us to the end.
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,
do it all for the glory of God.
I Corinthians 10:31
It is truly a great way to live.
