Woody Allen said 90% of life is simply showing up.
On this one, Allen was about as wrong as he could be.
Part of the problem we face is that is all too many of us ever do. We show up. We just show up. We barely show up. We show up with part of our attention and interest. We show up with minimal energy. We show up and think we should be applauded for just being there.
Too many dads just show up for their kid's lives and that is about it.
Too many workers are just showing up and forgetting to bring along their passion, their creativity, their very best energies.
Too many leaders show up without a vision, without a plan, without developed strengths, without a team, and without most of what they need to be a good leader.
Too many Christians barely show up for their times with God; show up without much desire; show up without any real sense of their vital pathways into the Presence of God.
IT IS NOT ABOUT JUST SHOWING UP.
It is about how you show up... how often and how long you show up... how prepared and ready you are when you show up... how invested you are when you show up... how committed you are when you show up... and then what you actually do once you show up.
