Leadership Lessons from Egypt

Here is a list of leadership lessons that can be learned from the Egyptian revolution.  These were sent to me from a friend in Latin America and they went through Google Translation from Spanish to English.

 

1. You are not the masters of the country, government or church.

2. You can not control everything, even by force.

3. The decision to end is as important as starting.


4. Nothing and no one lasts forever (presidents, senators, ministers ordictators)

5. You can not keep people quiet or oppressed for life.

6. Listen to people.

7. Do not cling to power. Do not let that this "drug" consume you and destroy you.

8. Do not expect circumstances dictate your steps.

9. Make decisions based on what is truth and right, not what suits you.


10. Better late than never. Be recalled more for positive action at the end of your career, that years of mistakes and negligence over it.

11. It's not about you, but something much larger.

12. You should not underestimate the social networks.

 

Leaders, if you have spent time following this historic uprising - what additional lessons do you take away from this?

And (tongue in cheek) I wonder if any other leaders can learn a lesson or two about popular uprisings against unpopular policies?
