(NOTE: Sorry, this post was accidentally deleted and I was able to cut and paste it back as plain text. I didn't bother to go back and reformat it.)
Here is a CRUCIAL point.
It is not about activity.
It is not about how busy you are.
It is not about performance.
It is about results. ALWAYS . . .
The goal is not just do work, not merely to do ministry.
The goal is to "bear much fruit that lasts."
To get RESULTS.
For this, you need to know:
What are your desired outcomes?
What does success look like?
What does "much fruit that lasts" look like for you?
How do you define changed lives and added value?
And are you actually getting these desired results?
If you aren't getting the desired results - then you are in serious trouble. Again - activity and doing and performing are not the essence of your organization and its mission. Getting results from your activity is what matters.
So you must always be about the task of assessing results.
Both Qualitative and Quantitative measurements are needed.
Jim Collins says most non-profits, i.e. churches and missions organizations have the wrong metrics. We measure performance activity and not results. And we are measuring how many people show up to events and not on what happens in their lives as result of those events.
To discover Qualitative Results, you are moving into the area of specific, observable changes that combine into patterns of transformation and produce an authentic story that can be seen and told.
So poke around, start conversations, listen to stories and keep working the process of always moving toward results.
See you next week, after the Holiday with some thoughts on creativity and learning.
