I am borrowing these great ideas right out of Guy Kawaski's wonderful book - Enchantment. If you are looking for a motivational and empowering book to read - try this one.
Here are some of Guy's guidelines for when he has to make a decision. I have done just a little morphing here and there.
If I wait a week will I make the same decision?
A year from now, will this decision still be a good one?
Have I done my homework and can I really support this decision with facts?
Do I fully know the cost of this decision (both the up front and the ongoing costs)?
Will this decision harm anyone? If it will affect some people negatively, do I have full justification for making it?
Is this decision in any way illegal immoral or unethical? And is it skirting close to the edge or steering well away from that realm? If it is even close - why am I considering making it?
************
Have I prayed about this decision and sense strongly that I should continue on in the way I am going?
Have I received counsel and affirmation from people I trust?
***********
I know this sounds like some work... but for important decisions, make sure you have done your work and you make the best decision you can.
