You already know this, but are you actually living, learning and leading in light of this reality?
Here is an illustration (maybe a metaphor) for the radical, discontinuous change we are experiencing.
In 2002 (ten years ago) 50% of humanity never used a phone!
In 2012 - 77% of humanity has a cell phone!
I just uploaded books, music, magazines, power point presentations, articles I am working on to my iPad.
It is amazing!
When I travel, I don't need a computer any longer - this iPad machine can do everything I need (and actually, I only use a fraction of its capacity).
Imagine if you can (and you probably can't) if you could go back to 1992 (20 years ago) and show people the iPad. It would be inconceivable. Take your iPhone along as well.
These things are so ubiquitous in our daily lives, so normal that we take them for granted. But for twenty years ago - the iPad and iPhone (okay, and their equivalents no matter the brand) would be like science fiction.
Now, think about what is coming our way in ten, fifteen and twenty years. May I suggest we can't really imagine it.
Everything is changing.
- Rapidly.
- Massively.
- Continuously.
- Disruptively.
This is the brave new world. Or maybe it is our confused, uncertain, scary new world.
Either way, this is the world we are called to lead in the name of Jesus.
I don't know about you, but I think my prayer life could be a little stronger.
