Here are some words from one of the great presidents of the United States.
The presidency is . . . predominantly a place of moral leadership. All our great Presidents were leaders of thought at times when certain historic ideas in the life of the nation had to be clarified. . . That is what the office is - a superb opportunity for reapplying, applying in new conditions, the simple rules of human conduct to which we always go back. Without leadership alert and sensitivity to change, we are all bogged up or lose our way. Franklin D. Roosevelt
I think about this in light of those of us who are called to leadership in the church and missional organizations of God's Kingdom. Our leadership must be a moral leadership (defined by the Scriptures). Our leadership must be built on the GREAT BIBLICAL IDEAS (realities) THAT MATTER THE MOST and which we reapply to our current cultural situations.
And speaking of MORAL LEADERSHIP, think about the different moralities these three leaders provided (during and after World War II)!
